Sony Says PSP Piracy on the Decline - PSPworld- About: PSP News

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Despite the recent news that peripheral maker Datel has found a way to hack the new PSP 3000 , Sony remains confident that their hardware is resistant enough to prevent most mainstream users from engaging in piracy. Speaking to the MTV gaming blog earlier today, Sony hardware marketing exec John Koller said that recent studies done by the company show a decline in the amount of piracy happening on the system. This has to be easier than messing around with all of the nonsense required to get custom firmware running on the system, causing many users to simply go with the easier, paid alternative. PSP World offers up-to-the-minute news and in-depth reviews of Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) games, accessories, software, UMD movies, and more. read more

Topic: General - Dave Mirra BMX Challenge on the PSP

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Well, Crave decided to bring him back with Dave Mirra BMX Challenge, which turned out to be one of their worst ideas yet. If youāve played Tony Hawkās Downhill Jam (which is quite a fun game actually), youāll find that the two games are similar in terms of the gameās design except here, you arenāt skating. Youāll find that the career mode in Dave Mirra BMX Challenge is split up into two parts, basically just trick contests and Races. You play 8 tracks on novice, then the same 8 tracks on pro, to unlock a final 9th track. The game was easier that any other on the PSP, and to make matters worse, you have to finish only three out of four to move on with the game. For the hardcore BMX and Dave Mirra fans however, this might be a good game to keep in your collections, but nothing more. read more

PSP News - Rip DVDs for Playback on Your iPhone, PSP, Xbox 360, PS3, AppleTV … - Maximum PC

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Ripping DVDs and transcoding the video stored within into more efficient formats involves an order of magnitude more scary math than ripping audio CDs. Weāll show you how to rip your DVD to a file suitable for streaming that consumes a fraction of the disk space of a DVD but maintains full video and audio quality. The resolution of the video, the video and audio codecs, the container format used, and even more esoteric things like the framerate can affect whether your video will work on your device of choice. While the most common container formats, mp4 and mkv, support multiple track and subtitle streams in one file, few players will work with multiple audio tracks, and an even smaller subset will work with subtitles. That means you need to rip a single audio trackā”typically the main movieās English soundtrackā”and burn the subtitles into the video, rather than leave them as separate streams inside the container. read more
