Twisted Metal 2, the second installment in the Twisted Metal series, is a combat game with a heavy involvement of vehicles. The first game was declared a hit by critics and audiences, the developers were practically forced to launch a sequel. The game begins with Calypso, a man who hosts Twisted Metal, a game based on vehicle combat. New Color Helps PSP Keep Japanese Hardware Lead - Gamasutra(PSP News)

Market research firm Media Create has revealed data for weekly hardware sales in Japan for the week ending July 20th, following details of the software top thirty . Despite Dragon Quest V on the Nintendo DS selling in record volume, Sony’s PlayStation Portable is once again the best selling hardware format of the week, aided by the launch of two new “Metallic Blue” bundles and the release of Namco Bandai’s Gundam Battle Universe . Despite the huge number of software sales this week, Nintendo DS sales rose by only 6,000 units to 54,531 suggesting that the hardware market for the format is reaching saturation point. PlayStation 2 sales also fell by around 1,000 units to 9,535, while the Xbox 360 saw sales increase by a few hundred units to 4,208. Overall in the software sales top fifty, there were twenty-six titles for the Nintendo DS, ten for the Wii, seven for the PSP, five for the PlayStation 3, two for the PlayStation 2 and none for the Xbox 360. read more

The Prison Service in England and Wales is banning 18-rated games , and also requiring inmates to buy their own consoles and games from now on. At a recent Comic-Con presentation, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono said “You may remember a character from a previous April Fool’s joke â” so maybe you’ll see something about that [in the console version]. In a speech last year that apparently no one until now has gotten around to noticing, a Republican congresswoman claimed that terrorists were “sending training and recruitment videos over Japanese video game Web sites. Harmonix says they considered air drumming for the Wii but dumped the idea because “we found that the tactile element of actually hitting a surface when you’re drumming is a fairly critical part to the visceral feel of actually playing drums. read more
