Sony is continually tinkering with the thing in big ways (introducing a lighter, slimmer model in 2007) and small (any number of regularly issued firmware updates). You can connect to device to a TV in order to play games on a bigger screen. Its game library continues to grow, and while it doesn’t have as many diverse a selection as the Nintendo DS, its AAA titles look spectacular. Success also lets you unlock 12 courses and 12 characters, and there are dozens of items to collect as you roam the fairways. You start each level by placing an assortment of spaceships on a hex-filled grid; the objective, generally, is to reach a particular spot on the grid or to destroy your opponent’s flagship. read more

(General) Sony Ericsson working on a PSP phone, minus the Ericsson?

Look, we’ve heard our fair share of PSP phone rumors , and there’s really no reason to trust this one any further than your average baseless musings, but if Marketing Week’s “sources in Japan and Korea” can be trusted, Sony’s PSP phone could be hitting shelves as soon as Christmas 2009. What does seem clear to these shady sources is that Sony won’t be forking over the PlayStation branding to its Sony Ericsson partnership, and instead will build its PSP phone all by its lonesome. Any PSP phone would have to be at least 2/3 the size of a PSP and a good deal lighter. My opinion on the PSP phone is that they shouldn’t try to make it a real phone. read more
