Topic: PSP News - PSP Remote Play goes live (gamesindustry.biz)

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

The PSP’s Remote Play function, allowing users to stream content from the PlayStation 3 to the handheld, has now gone live thanks to the latest firmware update. Using a wireless connection, PSP owners are able to access their home console’s hard-drive or memory cards to stream music, photos and videos to the handheld. More integrated functions are expected from the Remote Play feature in the future. Sony originally planned to let developers use the PSP in PlayStation 3 games as an additional peripheral, with Formula One Championship Edition being shown at E3 using the PSP as a rear-view mirror, although the function was dropped before release. Legend of the Dragon Review [PSP] (GameSpot)- Topic: PSP News

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Legend of the Dragon is a fighting game from Game Factory that’s based on a cartoon that currently airs on Toon Disney as part of its Jetix programming block. The fighting in this game is uniformly terrible, giving you the feeling that the product was constructed as a licensing tie-in first and a game second, but the ugly graphics and lack of character speech mean that this probably won’t do much for fans of the show either, making it a failure from every angle. But you can also use your power meter when transformed to execute three different special attacks that make the game feel like it’s trying to ape the Dragon Ball Z Budokai series. In addition to a stock of standard fighting modes, like survival and practice, there’s a quest mode, where you move Ang or Ling around a map screen as though it were some kind of board game. read more

Topic: PSP News - PSP 3.50 firmware available: “Remote Play” over the Internet (Addict 3D)

Friday, June 1st, 2007

That, coupled with the latest PS3 firmware update, means you’ve just scored “Remote Play” functionality — access to videos, music, and pictures on your home PS3 running 1. In other words, you can stream media but can’t actually play games remotely. The update also includes an RSS Channel Guide but we know it’s the remote play you want. You should already be able to update from your PSP directly even though many of Sony’s download sites are still pegged at version 3. read more
