Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Square Enix has decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series by releasing the first two adventures on PSP. Final Fantasy I and II will be available across the US on 26th June and 24th July respectively. These anniversary editions will be completely remastered for the handheld. Final Fantasy was released in Japan 20 years ago, and began what has turned out to be an immensely popular series, today totalling more than 75 million sales worldwide. The first game tells the story of four adventurers summoned to bring the world back to a harmonious elemental balance, seeking out an evil entity that has created a rift in the structure of time. Final Fantasy II follows four brave fellows once more, this time battling an evil emperor who has unleashed an army of demons to take over the world. read more

Shippin’ Out April 16-20: Valhalla Knights, Bust-A-Move Bash! (GameSpot)- About: PSP News

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

The game is the latest in Taito’s long line of puzzle games, and will allow up to eight-player matches using the motion-sensing Wii Remote. Also, old-school favorite Gyruss and new-school casual golf game 3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures both arrive on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow. The PlayStation Portable will take a double hit in the form of the Japanese role-playing game Valhalla Knights and the risqué billiards simulator Pocket Pool. Meanwhile, the handheld’s older sibling, the PlayStation 2, will get races (Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2), heists (Th3 Plan), mechs (Eureka Seven Vol. I’m not dissapointed, if sony, nintendo, and microsoft tried to get a game out for each console each week, we’d get poor, undeveloped, and generally bad games (see half of PS2 and N64’s library). Valhalla Knights have a smiliar battling system (non random encouter with real time battling system) with Crisis Core. read more

Capcom’s letter of the Law this morning is “H”, which stands for Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law is a comedy cartoon series shown in the US as part of the late-night “Adult Swim” slot. Each case you tackle as Birdman will be its own unique interactive story, introducing different characters, settings, and the sort of off-beat humour that’s made the show so popular (it’s in its seventh series now). Exploring crime scenes will be your key to success in comical and bizarre cases, as will gathering evidence and talking to other cartoon characters. read more
