(PSP News) Sony: PSP Go Confused Consumers (Game Informer)

Sony has been dodgy about officially commenting on the shaky launch of the portable system, but it's recently gone on record admitting that the PSP Go confused consumers. Speaking to IndustryGamers about whether the PSP Go was about alleviating piracy, Sony senior vice president of publisher relations Rob Dyer says “We wanted to find a way to give the consumers what they want, so if they didn't want to go to a retailer they could stay at home and download [games and content]. The only thing that confuses me about the PSP Go is why someone bothered making the PSP GO. However, here in the US, even this questionable advantage is greatly diminished, and there's very little reason to opt for this over the PSP 3000, assuming you had a reason to look into the PSP at all. I feel like the PSP on the whole served its purpose and created something of a beach head for Sony in the handheld market, but I think they'll need to sort of go back to formula and try again with an entirely new handheld in a year or two for another shot at actually getting things right. read more
