Thanks to a varied software lineup, a much more reasonable price point and a solid set of new and fresh ideas (like the included touchscreen and microphone), the DS flourished while the PSP became home to lazy ports and bland software. Would-be owners have been clamoring for a PSP price drop since early last year, but Sony consistently denied any such possibilities. Recently, the PSP Value Pack—which included the unit, charger, battery, headphones, a soft case and a memory card—was discontinued by Sony, which allowed retailers to sell units at a much lower price.
