Although PSP sales are way down this week in Japan, the Sony portable still had enough momentum from the PSP-3000 to lead all hardware. The latest weekly sales data from Media Create in Japan shows that following the recent launch of the PSP-3000, the PSP continues to sell at a healthy pace. For the week ended October 26, sales for the PSP platform totaled 60,467 units – down considerably from the previous week’s nearly 160K but still more than enough to dominate the hardware chart. Wii hardware sales fell by a couple thousand to 24,292 units, while the DS sales dipped down from last week’s almost 30K to just 22,965 units this week. Xbox 360 sales were roughly flat compared to last week, coming in at 7,844 units, which was basically double the sales of PS3 hardware. After last week’s total of just 4,725 units sold, the Sony console hit a new low at just 3,931 units sold. read more
