NewsCenter 5’s Gail Huff reported that more than 200 Bay State soldiers arrived at Hanscom Field shortly before 7 a. They’re all members of the 399th Combat Support Hospital and the 804th Medical Brigade. Both units left 15 months ago, in June of 2006, to provide medical care for soldiers and civilians in Iraq. When the units left, families posed for pictures and bid their loved ones goodbye, knowing they wouldn’t see them for over a year, so this is the day they’ve been waiting for, to see them return safely home. Last year, 450 doctors, nurses and medics gathered at the Bayside Expo Center for the send-off. Their job has been to provide medical support to soldiers and civilians and they did not lose one soldier during their tour. read more
